What does Botox treat?

Primarily known for its ability to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles, including severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.

How does Botox work?

Botox treatments temporarily paralyze your muscle activity. To enjoy this result, Rothfleisch must first inject tiny amounts of the drug into either your skin or muscles. The number of injections you need depends on the extent of the treatment area.

Once complete, there’s no downtime, and you can resume your normal activities immediately. Side effects including temporary muscle weakness, eyelid drooping, and facial asymmetry are rare and tend to last only a few weeks. Minor, temporary bruising may also occur at injection sites.

Botox injections tend to start working a few days after treatment and last three months or longer, depending on the area treated. To maintain the effects of Botox, you schedule regular follow-up injections.

What is the difference between Botox and Xeomin?

Botox and Xeomin contain the same active ingredient and are approved for the treatment of neck spasms, blepharospasm, and moderate to severe frown lines between your eyebrows.

Unlike Botox, Xeomin is a naked injectable. That means it doesn’t include additives, only the active ingredient: botulinum toxin type A. The purity means there’s less risk of developing antibodies against this product, a side effect experienced by some women and men after treatment.

Expect to notice the effects of a Xeomin injection within one week, and they should last between three and six months.

However, these two injectables shouldn’t be used interchangeably since the neurotoxins in each product diffuse differently. Botox has protective proteins clustered around the active part of the molecule (something Xeomin doesn’t have).
